About Me

I am so glad you are here. I am Shannon, a community based doula, bodyworker, lactation consultant, nutrition educator, and a mental health professional with a Master’s degree in Community Counseling. I am also a wife and mom, which means I understand how layered, tender, and transformative this journey can be from both a professional and personal lens.

Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are not just medical events. They are emotional experiences, relational experiences, and moments that shape the body, the mind, and the heart. They can bring excitement, fear, grief, joy, hope, and the quiet spaces in between. My work honors all of it.

I believe everyone deserves care that meets them where they are. Whether you are holding past trauma, working through loss, rebuilding trust in your body, navigating relationship changes, or simply wanting steady and knowledgeable support, you belong here. Your story matters. Your experiences matter. Your comfort matters.

As your doula, I offer care that sees the whole person. I use hands on bodywork, somatic practices, stretch coaching, and trauma informed support to help you feel grounded and connected throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I help you understand your options, support your nervous system, and build rhythms that feel safe and supportive for your family. My approach is collaborative. We walk this path together.

With training in trauma, mental health, nervous system regulation, and body based healing, I support all parts of your experience. This may look like preparing your body for birth through movement and myofascial techniques, learning mindfulness tools that bring steadiness, or creating space in postpartum to process what birth brought forward. My goal is to support your physical body, your emotional world, and your inner story with gentleness and clarity.

I support all types of birth and all birthing people. Home birth, hospital birth, cesarean, VBAC, unmedicated, medicated, joyful, complicated, expected, and unexpected. I also support families through grief, loss, and the tender moments that often need the most care.

My work is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in respect. I welcome families of all identities, backgrounds, belief systems, and relationship structures. Every person deserves care that honors who they are and how they move through the world.

This site is more than a place to learn about my services. It is a resource hub built to support your mind, body, and heart. You will find evidence based information, guided activities, reflective tools, and resources that help you navigate this journey with confidence and care. There are supports for birth, postpartum, feeding, healing, parenting, and the transitions in between.

Whether you are here to learn, to prepare, or to find support, you are in the right place.

You belong here.

I look forward to walking this path with you.

My Approach

What sets my care apart is how I blend physical, emotional, and mental support into every part or your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. I don't believe in one size-fits-all birth work. Instead, I combine evidence-based education, hands-on bodywork, and trauma-informed care designed to meet your unique needs. How you feel during this experience matters.

With a deep understanding of how stress, trauma, and lived experiences shape our bodies and minds, I approach each client with curiosity, respect, and cultural humility. Whether you carry past trauma, medical mistrust, or simply want care that truly sees you, I create a space where you feel safe, heard, and in control.

As a bodyworker and somatic practitioner, I bring skills not every doula offers. My work often includes myofascial release, breathwork, movement, and nervous system regulation. All designed to ease tension, support your body's natural abilities, and help you stay grounded and connected. Together, we prepare your body and mind for birth, support healing afterward, and build tools you can carry well beyond our time together.

This is holistic care that holds your whole story, not just your pregnancy. It's support that adapts, respects your traditions and values, and walks beside you through every part of this journey. Because you deserve care that not only sees your strength, but helps you feel it.

What's the Community Based Doula Difference?

Community-based doulas do more than support birth—we support people. We walk alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum while honoring the complexity of lived experience. This model of care centers cultural humility, relationship-building, education, and ongoing support—especially for those who have been historically overlooked, silenced, or underserved by traditional systems.

As a certified community-based doula, my work is rooted in trust, advocacy, and healing. I don’t just show up for a birth. I show up before the baby arrives and after the visitors have gone home—because your wellness, your story, and your support system matter every step of the way.

What does this look like in practice?

I build relationships. I take time to understand your history, your hopes, your fears, and your values—so your care feels personal, not clinical.

I offer consistent support. I stay connected throughout pregnancy, am present through birth, and continue checking in during postpartum.

I bring education and tools. I offer accessible, trauma-informed information, personalized guidance, and resources you can use long after our time together ends.

I center your voice. You are the expert on your body and your baby. I help amplify that voice, not replace it.

I understand systems. I’ve worked within and around medical, social service, and mental health systems—and I know how to help you navigate them.

This kind of doula care doesn’t just prepare you for birth. It holds space for transformation, for reclaiming power, for building a foundation that supports not just survival—but thriving.
